βThe living cling to the Light for one reason: they fear the oblivion of death. As Forsaken, that fear has no further hold over you. Though the Light now rejects even those among us who were once its most fervent devotees, we command dark powers that lie beyond deathβs shadow.β

About the Order
The Convocation of Darkness is an exclusively undead heavy roleplay guild on Wyrmrest Accord inspired by the Cult of Forgotten Shadows. Our themes draw heavily upon various aspects of Cult lore and "old school" Forsaken vibes. Our mission is to create RP dedicated to teaching and guiding Forsaken in the ways of the Shadows and to give a home to the many Forsaken of the world who wander adrift. While we are an undead/Forsaken guild, we do accept death knights of all races and elves with undead customizations and backstories. If you do not have a heartbeat, you are welcome among us, as all undead are touched by the Shadow. You must be 21+ to join as we will have mature themes that may be dark, and we prefer to keep it a mature crowd.
Founded by an unlikely alliance of Charlene Evilove, Maerlyn Eldham, and Sehoro Crestley, the three Forsaken form an unholy triumvirate within the Shadows as the leadership of the Convocation of Darkness, with the intention of spreading the teachings and virtues of the Lightβs dark counterpart to all Forsaken they come across. As a radical sect of the Cult of Forgotten Shadows, their doctrine warns against blind adherence to the Light and the danger that the ever growing influence of the Church of the Holy Light poses to all undead and to those who devote themselves to the shadows. The Convocation of Darkness will visit a dark reckoning upon whosoever opposes them, by the sword and the crosier, through the faith and the shadow.
Virtues and Ranks
As within the Cult of Forgotten Shadows, upon whose teachings the Convocation of Darkness was founded, the three virtues are regarded as sacrosanct: Respect, Tenacity and Power. The hierarchy of the order is broken into three classifications based upon each of these virtues. Upon initiation, one is judged by the three and placed according to their inherent alignment to each virtue to be mentored by those above and around them. True mastery comes when one has understood and mastered each of the three virtues. Promotion comes with clear understanding and dedication. The ranks are as follows:
Respect | Tenacity | Power |
---|---|---|
High Priestess | Overseer | Archpriest |
Shadowsworn | Shadowsworn | Shadowsworn |
Shadewalker | Shadowguard | Dark Seer |
⬦ | Acolyte | ⬦ |
⬦ | Unitiated | ⬦ |
Info about each Virtue and Rank in detail.
Respect
The universe is the physical manifestation of other's wills. Thus, for a person to denigrate the universe is to ignore the personal power of those around them. This is not only disrespectful, it is dangerous. A follower of the Forgotten Shadow must develop his personal power in order to exert his will on the universe, but seeking too much power too quickly puts him in conflict with other, stronger beings. Only a foolish follower seeks to challenge his superiors right away. Showing respect ensures a measure of self-protection.
Those who cleave to the virtue of Respect will find themselves under the mentorship of the High Priestess, Ihuthlis Duskshard. These members are taught to understand their own personal will, sociability and how to control others through the use of the shadow. The most dangerous mistake is often to underestimate those who appear to pose no threat, and to master the virtue of Respect, one must first recognize their place in the worldβand how to manipulate it.
Tenacity
Followers of the Forgotten Shadow put even greater stock in the virtue of tenacity. It may at first seem impossible for a person to change the universe when countless others seeking to do the same surround him. Through unwavering perseverance and tenacity though, they may triumph.
Those who cleave to the virtue of Tenacity will find themselves under the mentorship of the Overseer, Sehoro Crestley. These are those who already have the drive for combat. They will learn to use the shadow to bolster their fighting ability, strengthen their resistance, and defend our cause by any means necessary. To achieve mastery in the virtue of Tenacity, one must not simply fight against opposition: they must endure the onslaught.
Power
Power is the third virtue of the Forgotten Shadow, and the most difficult to attain. A Forsaken who grabs greedily for power might encounter power too great for him or her to handle, and die in their attempt to master it. A Forsaken who succumbs to despair and seeks no personal power has no reason to exist; he craves nothing, desires nothing, he sits alone and pines for his old life. To the cult, Forsaken who do not seek to better themselves might as well still be part of the Scourge. The quest for power requires caution, forethought, and a subtle touch.
Those who cleave to the virtue of Power will find themselves under the mentorship of the Archpriest, Maerlyn Eldham. This sect of the order is comprised of those who are already the most devout among the disciples of shadow, but as any true student of Selinic doctrine will understand, it is at the pinnacle of achievement that one is also the most vulnerable. To successfully master the virtue of Power, one must be willing to peer into the heart of darkness itselfβand be prepared to vanquish opposition that is both without, and within.
Letters from the Order
There are many writings and manuscripts penned by the members of the Convocation. You may find a list of them below...
In Defense of Forsaken Episcopacy in the Era of the Reformed Desolate Council
...Three years have now passed since the reclamation of Lordaeron and the reformation of the Desolate Council. There can be little dispute that our people, the Forsaken, have risen admirably from the dust once more in defiant proof of our unflagging tenacity and resolve. And yet there is an argument to be made in equal measure that the tumult of these latter days has eroded this peopleβs spirit in ways that have yet to be addressed. In the wake of such tumult, I write to you now to declare a message I have divined from the shadows themselves: a prophecy of a new dawn; power which awaits those on whom the favor of the Shadow rests. The Forsaken clergy must cast off the shawl of ennui which has enshrouded us. The injurious mendacity of the Church of the Holy Light is a rot which ever creeps upon the hearts and minds of its supplicants as surely as it would advance upon Forsaken territory. It will not be so. The Cult of Forgotten Shadows will rally once more. A new order will rise. To this end, I proclaim the advent of the Convocation of Darkness. We will gather to ourselves the most fervent devotees of Selinic doctrine, and work from within to muster the spirits of our people. We will cast down the icons of the Church of the Holy Light from their high places and, with our blades and words of shadow, sunder their golden crowns of untruth...βDark Cleric Maerlyn Eldham

The Reliquary
The Convocation of Darkness has come across many objects of importance, artifacts and mementos to their travels and hardships. This is a repository of the items collected, their importance, history, and what they may be used for.
The Reliquary
The Censer of Saint Gavinrad the Pious
An item of nearly mythical reputation, the Censer was commissioned by the Church of the Holy Light to be crafted by the dwarven smiths of Khaz Modan over one hundred years ago. Named for one of the venerated saints, it was used often in ceremonies to aid in purifying clergy and casting out evil spirits, its presence having been said to calm the souls of those possessed by demons while causing unbearable agony to the possessor, such that it would be forced to flee or risk utter destruction. Entrusted to the clerics of Northshire, the Censer was lost during the First War, not being sighted again until it reemerged in the hands of the veteran paladin Sir Declan Belford.Dust from the censer left behind after its use remains blessed and untouchable by demons and the undead for several days after its use in ceremony.
The Armory
Ol' Kells Locket
Olβ Kells was a veteran Deathstalker from Gilneas who died in her later years in life. That didnβt stop the elderly woman from pursuing a lifestyle of murder. Sadly by the time the Convocation of Darkness had crossed her path her brain was very heavily decayed and her knowledge of the Forsaken lands and armies was manipulated by her son, a devout and murderous paladin seeking his revenge on the Forsaken. Olβ Kells assisted the Convocation in tracking her son down and was sadly struck down in combat with her son.
No Magical or Practical Effect.
